The Roman Emperor Augustus build the Mausoleum in Rome in 28 BC after his victory in the Battle of Actium in 31 BC. It is a giant tomb where the ashes of the emperor and his family rests in golden urns.
But they are not alone  in the mausoleum. Marcus Claudius Marcellus was the first to be buried in it, in 23 BC. Other well known romans that rest here is, Marcus Agrippa, Nero Claudius Drusus, Octavia Minor (the sister of Augustus), Livia (Augustus’ wife), Germanicus, Agrippina the Elder, Agrippina’s daughter Julia Livilla, Nero (son of Germanicus), Drusus Caesar (son of Germanicus), Caligula, Tiberius, Drusus Julius Caesar (son of Tiberius), Nero Claudius Drusus and Antonia Minor (parents of Claudius), Claudius amongst many other. The last emperor that was buried here was Nerva.

In Italy the Mausoleum of Augustus is named Mausoleo di Augusto.

As a tourist you only can visit The Mausoleum of Augustus from the outside as it is closed. The inside have been ruined over the years and it have also been looted.
